Rianka Fouche

About Me

Hi! I am Rianka Fouche; a 20 year old with a lot of potential (wink-wink). I live in Cape Town, but there are many places I like to call home. My passion for Graphic Design started in High School when I randomly took Design as an extra subject. I was unsure at first, but I soon realized that I was meant to create extraordinary things.

I have strong leadership skills, and have the ability to make things happen. I am goal-oriented and a natural organizer. I like to have a balance between productivity and purpose. I have a highly creative nature that is balanced by grounded realism and a determined-attitude.

I fell in love with advertising, branding, 2D illustration, and animation while spending my time at Pearson Institute. The special tools that help me to create meaning in my work are Photoshop, Illustrator, Maya, After Effects, and Indesign.

When I am not working hard to reach a deadline, you will find me watching a Tim Burton movie, making somebody look like a zombie through sfx-makeup, or creating a sculpture with clay.

Here's a Quick Peek of My Work

Digital Portrait Illustration

This was a drawing illustration where we had to take photos of ourselves and then choose an art style to draw digitally – I chose psychedelic art. Using Adobe Photoshop, I created a mystical, shamanic version of myself, creating an artwork that perfectly fits the Psychedelic aesthetic. Drawing Illustration has definitely become a very fun hobby for me and you will get to see a lot more in the near future.

Doepa

The DOEPA Pop-Up Club is a club which I have created to represent the band Fokofpolisiekar and their general aesthetic. DOEPA is an Afrikaans word which when translated to English means “Medicine”. The whole Pop-Up Club is designed to have “medicine” as a coherent theme throughout. The snake logo and the blood-like fluid both
represent DOEPA in a unique and unforgettable way. DOEPA represents a “cure” or an “antidote”, a space where people can come to find happiness and be set free of the
problems that ail them.

YDPS

Designing a theme with an over-all look and feel for the Young Designers Portfolio Showcase was the goal for this project. To achieve this, I had to use Maya, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects. By combining both 3D and 2D graphics I created circular objects and a YDPS typography framework. I intentionally designed the theme to be playful while also allowing it to have a symbolic meaning. The circular objects represent each Graphic Designer as they move through the years while building a framework for themselves toward the YDPS. The circle is a symbolic representation of unity and we as Graphic Designers, even though we are individually unique, are able to work together in unison to achieve every goal we have set out for ourselves.

“Ingenuity through Unity”.
