ABOUT THE ARTIST

“I have always loved creating art which motivated me to seek out a career in design. My passion is to make people aware of wilderness preservation, and the reduction of human impact on the environment through my art.

My goal is to be a Graphic Designer for the World Wide Fund for Nature and to create original concepts that will raise awareness for global issues. Creative advertising and an eco-friendly approach to package design is what I would like to be doing in the future”.

Brand Identity

This is the logo and business card I made for myself. The front and back of the business card contain the gradient which is reflective and shiny so that it actually looks like it is illuminating through the card. The card also contains Spot UV Varnish.

GoldPack Competition Poster

This is my competition poster for GoldPack. I used a bright background to grab the audience’s attention as well as using exciting big words, “STAND A CHANCE TO WIN”, and having an enticing prize such as winning R10 000. I displayed my gift box on the poster too as well as the steps on how to enter the competition.

Digital Portrait Illustration

I created a Digital Portrait Illustration and was inspired by the famous portrait painting, “The girl with the pearl earring” and thought that it would be fitting to do a modern take on it and instead call it “The African Pearl”.

Dictionary Advertisement

I created a dictionary of 10 new words with descriptions which falls within the theme of “Emotions”. I based the layout, typeface and colours off the original Oxford dictionary, however, I made this an “Urban” dictionary which includes ‘slang’ words and phrases, because the ten words I created are not real. I selected one of these words, depicting an appropriate use for the word in an advert by showing the dog character on the right expressing that emotion.

Kinetic Type Invite

I was inspired by Bauhaus’s use of colour, shape and their font as well as a Henri Matisse painting of a circus which I incorporated into my kinetic type invite. I wanted to have a modern take on the theme “circus” by using the bold colours and crazy use of shapes that is commonly associated with a circus.
